The proposal is for the demolition of existing garages and the reuse of under used areas to develop 26 high quality and energy efficient homes. This will consists of 3 new blocks comprising of 5 one bedroom flats, 16 two bedroom flats and 5 three bedroom flats. There will be a mixture of affordable rent council homes and shared ownership properties. Each home will have access to amenity space, car parking and cycle and bin spaces.
The scheme has been designed to Passivhaus* principles with highly insulated external walls. A large area of the roofs will also incorporate solar panels. It is proposed that the scheme will have electric heating via air source heat pumps.
The proposals introduce enhancements to the overall estate that will include;
* Passivhaus is an advanced low energy construction standard for buildings. By using high performance insulation and making a building completely draught free, it effectively eliminates heat loss to create a building with very low environmental impact and heating demand.
